The trial of a Royse City man, facing one count of intoxication manslaughter in connection with an alleged hit and run death of a country and western singer, has again been postponed until this summer, but probably for the final time.
Chaddrick Hunter has also pleaded not guilty to a charge of failure to stop and render aid involving the death in March 2007 of “Buck” Jones, 33, of Nashville, Tenn.
A final pretrial hearing had been scheduled last Thursday in the 354th District Court, with the start of jury selection set for Monday. However, the trial was rescheduled for August 18, with Judge Richard A. Beacom setting it No. 1 on the list of cases requiring the selection of a jury.
Authorities claim Hunter, 36, had more than three times the legal limit of alcohol in his bloodstream at the time of the accident.
Jones, identified in the indictments as Adrian N. Jones, was struck from behind as he walked along the northbound service road of eastbound Interstate 30 early on the morning of March 17, 2007 after the vehicle in which he was driving blew a tire, according to a report from the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS).
The accident occurred at the 81 mile marker on the eastbound interstate, between Farm-To-Market Roads 1565 and 2642, just east of Royse City.
