Royse City teen killed in one-vehicle wreck

Royse City — A 16-year-old Royse City High School student was killed and two others injured in a one-vehicle wreck Wednesday night.

Royse City Police Chief Carl Alsabrook said Anthony Robert Sanders died in the wreck. Two other teens sustained minor injuries.

Alsabrook said the wreck occurred about 8:45 p.m. on Elm Grove Road, a gravel road off Circle Drive. The driver lost control of his Ford F250 pickup truck as he turned onto Elm Grove Road and it rolled over several times, according to the police chief.

Sanders, who was a passenger in the vehicle, was taken by emergency helicopter to Parkland Hospital in Dallas, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

The chief said officers from the Royse City Police Department and Rockwall County Sheriff’s Office are investigating the wreck.
