Site approved for Taco Bell

Taco Bell is still a frequent topic at Royse City Planning and Zoning Commission and city council meetings.

On Sept. 19, the planning and zoning commission approved the preliminary plat for the property on the southeast corner of the Interstate 30 service road and FM 548.

The city council was scheduled to consider approving the preliminary plat at its Tuesday night meeting.

The area involved in the preliminary plat is the former site of the Wing Dingers restaurant and the Royse City Independent School District administration building.

Taco Bell’s planned site is the former location of the school administration building.

The restaurant that will be built on the former Wing Dingers site is still yet-to-be-determined.

Michael Stansberry, general counsel for Southern Multifoods Inc., has said in meetings the last few months that plans call for a 54-seat Taco Bell to be located on 27,000 square feet of land.

Southern Multifoods Inc., he said, has been in business 35 years and owns about 85 stores in Texas.

Stansberry has also reported that company officials want to have the restaurant built and open for business by the end of the year.
