Obituaries for the week of March 9

Maxine Stephens



Maxine Stephens, 65, of Royse City died March 31, 2008.

She was born April 17, 1942, to W.T. Fuller and Thelma Jackson. Mrs. Stephens was a child nutritionist for the Richardson Independent School District and was a member of Union Valley Baptist Church.

She is survived by her son, Cliff Stephens and wife Marie of Royse City; daughter Lisa Boehmke and husband Rocky of Farmersville; brothers Archie Fuller and wife Tracy of Wyoming, Roger Fuller and wife Nancy of Mart and Roy Olds and wife Connie of Arlington; a sister, Netha Nelson and husband James of O’Donald; brother-in-law Tommy Leathers; two grandchildren, Amanda Taylor and Neva Stephens; great-grandchildren Kai, Jasmine and Lilly Taylor, and Kennai Stephens.

Mrs. Stephens was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Slim.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., April 4, at Rest Haven Funeral Home-Rockwall Chapel with Rev. Ed Perry officiating. Interment was in Rest Haven Memorial Park.

‘Pete’ Clinard



Galen “Pete” Clinard, 87, a lifelong resident of Royse City died April 1, 2008.

He was born March 27, 1921, in Royse City to Rayborn and Ruby (McCreary) Clinard. Pete graduated from Royse City High School in 1938 and farmed until retiring, growing cotton, oats, wheat and milo. He also raised beef cattle. Pete was a hard worker and enjoyed working the land. He joined First United Methodist Church Royse City in 1930 and married Frankie Lee Coleman on Nov. 1, 1942.

Pete is survived by his son, Donald Clinard and wife Sandy; two grandsons, Keith Clinard and Kenneth Clinard and wife Rachel; and special great-granddaughter, Allison.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife and parents.

Funeral services was held 10:30 a.m., April 4, at First United Methodist Church in Royse City. Interment followed in Royse City Cemetery.

Rest Haven Funeral Home-Royse City Chapel was in charge of arrangements.



Chris Phillips



Chris Phillips, 85, of Royse City died April 2, 2008.

She was born Aug. 17, 1922, in Gober, daughter of Rayburn and Rhoda (Lawrence) Butler. Mrs. Phillips was a homemaker and a member of Royse City Church of Christ. She enjoyed bowling, playing dominoes, and especially spending time with family and friends.

Mrs. Phillips is survived by her son, Jack Phillips and wife Linda of Royse City; daughter Jean Sasek and husband Jerry of Morris, Minn.; two sisters, Juanita Jarrell of Telephone and Penny Harvey of Bonham; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ralph Phillips; her parents; her grandson, Donnie Rhea; and eight brothers and sisters.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., April 7, at the Royse City Church of Christ. Interment followed in Arledge Ridge Cemetery in Bonham.

Rest Haven Funeral Home-Royse City Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
