Obituaries for the week of April 23
‘Charley’ Bankston
James “Charley” Bankston died peacefully on April 19, 2008, at his home in Royse City surrounded by his loved ones.
He was born July 25, 1934, in Kemp to Archie and Susie (Varner) Bankston. Charley was a member of Blackjack Baptist Church and was owner of Bankston Tire Service.
He is survived by his wife, Bertha Bankston; two daughters, Deloris Overton and husband John; Susie Cullen and husband Richard, all of Royse City; a son, James Loyd Bankston of Palestine; brother Loyd Bankston and wife Faye of Cedar Hill; a sister, Marie Bland of Canton; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., April 22, at First United Methodist Church of Forney with Rev. Elmer Rush officiating. Interment followed in Hillcrest Cemetery. Rest Haven Funeral Home-Royse City Chapel was in charge of arrangements.

Francisca Parra
EMORY — Francisca Parra, 82, of East Tawakoni died the evening of April 15, 2008, at her residence. Memorial services have not yet been planned.
She was born Jan. 29, 1926, in San Benito. She was married to Frank Xavier Parra Jr. and was a homemaker.
Her survivors include two sons, Eduardo Parra of Point and Fausto Parra; three daughters, Yolanda Cabrera and Maria Rosalinda Blaxton of Royse City and Maria Elena Parra of Mesquite; two brothers, Francisco Espinosa of California and Felix Espinosa of Brownsville; four sisters, Candi Lopez, Basilla Garcia and Margarite Balboa of Brownsville and Petra of California; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Her parents, husband, one daughter, one son, two grandsons and one sister preceded her in death.
Wilson-Orwosky Funeral Home of Emory is in charge of arrangements.
