Thelma Steen
ROWLETT — Thelma Steen, 89, of Rowlett was born July 8, 1918, and died April 27, 2008. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Rowlett for more than 40 years.
Mrs. Steen is survived by her son, Allen D. Steen and wife Margaret of Greenville; a grandson, Freddie Davis Jr. of Royse City; granddaughters Janice M. Hicks and Joy Faye Saulters, both of Union Valley, Susan Gail Taylor and husband Billy of Pennsylvania and Mary Elizabeth Davis of Nevada; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Loyd Allen Steen; her parents, H.J. and Ida Bell Scott; and a son, Scottie Steen.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m., April 29, at the First Baptist Church in Rowlett. Interment followed in Mills Cemetery under the direction of Williams Funeral Directors of Garland.

Stacie Tutt
CADDO MILLS — Funeral services for Stacie Tutt were at 3 p.m., April 30, 2008, in the First Baptist Church in Lavon. Burial followed in the Nevada Cemetery under the direction of Rentfrow Funeral Home of Caddo Mills.
Born Nov. 10, 1971, she was the daughter of Bobby and Ruby Turney Neal. She was married to Robert Tutt. Mrs. Tutt was a substitute teacher in the Community Public School System.
Survivors are her husband; her children, Hailey and Tanner Tutt of Copeville; her father of Copeville; a brother, Bobby Neal of Copeville; two sisters, Tammy Gray of Caddo Mills and Cynthia Ruder of Richardson; and grandmother Charlotte Turney of Josephine.
She was preceded in death by her mother; a grandfather, Roy Turney; and grandparents Truman Neal and Berdie Irene Neal.

Jason Brown
TYLER — Jason E. Brown completed his earthly journey the evening of April 27, 2008, in East Texas Medical Center in Tyler at the age of 36.
Jason began this journey Aug. 19, 1971, in Seguin. He grew up in Seguin and was a graduate of Seguin High School. His higher education was completed at East Texas State University in Commerce where he trained to be a teacher.
His art teaching career began in Arlington and he taught a one-year term at the Dawson Center in Dallas before coming to Dixie Elementary School in Tyler on Aug. 20, 2001.
As voiced by his colleagues, his art students considered him a hero, and his talents extended past his art class as he was always available to tutor students for TAKS, listen to them read and was always an encourager. His peers at Dixie nominated him for Teacher of the Year.
His family and many friends enjoyed his personal talents expressed as portraits, sketches and drawings in pastels; and he especially liked to do pictures with hundreds of dots making the picture.
Jason was a member of Green Acres Baptist Church and Oasis Sunday School Class. His funeral service was at 4 p.m., May 1, in the Green Acres Chapel, 1607 Troup Highway. Burial followed in Tyler Memorial Park on Highway 64 under the direction of Lloyd James Funeral Home of Tyler.
Pallbearers were Wayne Burt, Jack Anderson, Michael Anderson, Peter Kao, Chad Atchley and Roger Gardener. Honorary pallbearers were Cecil Taylor, Scott Bostik, Eric Cargel, Trey Paris, Frank Krauer and Clinton Sawyer. Dixie Elementary staff were seated in a special place of honor.
Jason is survived by his mother, Lou Brown of Tyler; a sister, Kim Brown of Flint, Texas; aunts Linda Anderson of Lindale and Carolyn Brown Burt of Commerce; loving cousins Peter, Sherie and Alec Kao of Richardson, Wayne, Shawn, Nathan and Jesse Burt of Commerce, Jack, Mary, Haylee, Kristen and Aubrey Anderson of Caddo Mills and Michael, Leeann, Blake, McKenna and Isabella Anderson of Royse City; a neighborhood of friends and especially his dear friend Chad Atchley.
He was preceded in death by his father, Charlie W. Brown Jr., and grandparents Mr. and Mrs. F.P. Rowe and Mr. and Mrs. C.W. Brown.

Tom Tapp
Tom Tapp, 64, of Royse City died May 2, 2008.
He was born March 27, 1944, in Dallas to Otis and Virginia (Loper) Tapp. Tom had lived in Royse City for four years and was a member of Eastridge Church of Christ.
He is survived by his wife, Sandy Tapp of Royse City; a son, Tim Tapp and wife Cindy of Rockwall; daughter Stacey Castleberry and husband Eddy of Wills Point; a sister, Kay Tapp Solberg of Rogers, Ark.; grandchildren Lauren, Cortney, Tyler and Thomas; and also Sammy, Charlie and Buddy.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m., May 5, at Eastridge Church of Christ with James Hawk officiating. Interment followed in Rest Haven Memorial Park.
Rest Haven Funeral Home-Rockwall-Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
