Obituaries for the week of July 23

Mary Grantham



QUINLAN — Mary Sue Grantham, 81, of Quinlan, died July 17, 2008, at her home. Her funeral service, under the direction of Quinlan Funeral Home, was at 3 p.m., July 19, in the Caddo Valley Church of Christ with Robert Cruthird and Jared Baggett officiating. Burial followeds the service in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Quinlan.

Mary was born Dec. 31, 1926, in Royse City, daughter of Jim Daniel and Mary Lee (Mosley) Joslin. She married Billy J. McPherson, who preceded her in death in 1969. She then married Robert V. Grantham in 1974 at Midland. He also preceded her in death in 1992. She worked as a hairdresser for many years before retiring. She was a member of Caddo Valley Church of Christ of Quinlan.

Mrs. Grantham is survived by her daughter, Donna Simons and husband Jackie of Quinlan; a granddaughter, Lisa Lara and husband Nicholas of Quinlan; two grandsons, J.R. Simons and wife Lisa of Quinlan and Billy Simons of Wolfe City; seven great-grandchildren, Jacklynn, Sera, Mackenzie, Shelby, Sidney, Kristin, and Zachary; niece Nelda Sue Pierce and husband Jerry; and nephews Jimmy Don and Jerry Joslin, Billy Wayne and Johnny Brackeen.

Those preceding her in death are her two husbands; her parents; brothers Jimmy E. and Claude Joslin and Mac McCollum; two sisters-in-law, Nell Joslin and Pauline McCollum; a sister, Clarene Barrientes; and two nieces, Carolyn Sue and Mary Ann Brackeen.

Pallbearers were Jimmy Don Joslin, Jerry Joslin, J.R. Simons, Billy Simons, Scott Setties, and Nicholas Lara.

Ron Turner



Ron Turner, age 59, of Greenville, Texas, passed away unexpectedly on July 18, 2008.

He was born April 3, 1949, in Indianapolis, Ind., to Hubert and Ruby (Simpson) Turner. Ron had been a resident of Greenville for five years where he was a computer programmer.

He is survived by sons, Robbie and Michael Turner; daughter, Amy Parks and sisters, Brenda Lee Barnhart, Phyllis Andrews and Loretta Taylor. Ron was preceded in death by his parents and brother Michael Edward Turner.

A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.
