With its 4-0 district record, and 11-5 season record, Coach Clay Wolfe is very happy with his Royse City Bulldog varsity baseball team.
“We are really coming together as a team. This group of kids just loves playing the game. It is just a matter of finishing what we have to go the way that we should,” Wolfe said after the most recent two victories, against Wills Point and against Quinlan-Ford.
“To single anybody out would be tough at this point,” he said. “We just need to make sure we’re doing what we are supposed to do,” he said.
At Wills Point, they did, 13-3, with ten RBI’s spread out among Richard Morrison, Dalton McAden, Jacob Stone, Scotty Arterberry, Chaz Quinn and Dylan Jones.
Sophomore Scott Lane struck out the side in the sixth inning to end the game. He had 12 strikeouts in the game, with one walk and two hits.
That March 25 game also saw patient looks from Royse City batters.
At home, Royse City blanked Quinlan-Ford 10-0, on March 28. Morrison and McAden pitched, facing 19 batters.
Batting for Royse City is strong in the whole roster: Quinn is batting .635; Lane , .429; Arterberry, .351; Morrison, .350; McAden, .277; and Carlos Gallegos .273. The team batting average is .295.
Morrison’s ERA is 2.96, and Lane’s is 2.20.
As of press-time, the team is scheduled to play at Emory Rains on April 1, and at Community on April 8.
