First place Bulldogs beat Community, Commerce

Royse City Bulldogs won by 10-run rule against Community and against Commerce, with Carlos Gallegos hurling a no-hitter against the Braves. Royse City, 6-1, was in first place in district as the team took on Wills Point at home April 15 at press-time.
The ’Dawgs beat the Braves 17-0 at Community on April 8. Gallegos faced only 18 batters; striking out 10 and walking two.
Royse City sent 13 batters to the plate in the second inning and scored eight runs on five hits.
Dylan Jones tripled to start the fifth inning, and then scored on a single by Chaz Quinn.
Dustin Funderburk knocked in Chris Oswell and that finished the game with Royse City on top 17-0.
At Commerce April 11, Royse City won 14-3.
Lane Scott had two RBI’s in the first inning on a single, and Gallegos doubled to bring in Scott. Gallegos struck out the side and the first inning ended 3-0.
Chaz Quinn hit a bases-loaded double in the second inning, knocking in Jones, Scotty Arterberrry, and Dalton McAden; Jones and McAden had singled to get on base.
Bulldog bats brought in three runs in the third. Gallegos and Cameron Nichols led off the third inning with a double and a single respectively, contributing to the 9-0 lead at the end of the third.
In the fourth, Gallegos, who was 3 for 4 batting, singled, and scored on a single by Jacob Stone. Nichols also scored after reaching base on balls.
Community kept the game alive with one run each in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings.
Royse City’s T. J. Hardy put an end to the game with two RBI’s on a triple, bringing in Eric Schneider and Arterberry.
Royse City’s only district loss prior to the April 15 game was by one run, to Rains, on April 1; the two teams meet again to end the season on April 22.
