COVID-19 restrictions at area businesses will remain in place, due to the increasing level of patients with the virus in regional hospitals.

The Rockwall County Office of Emergency Management was reporting Tuesday the number of COVID-19 hospitalized patients as a percentage of total hospital capacity in the 19-county Trauma Service Area North Texas had reached 22.4 percent as of Sunday.

The latest report from the department indicated there had been 4,718 confirmed cases of COVID-19 as of Tuesday morning, an increase of 328 cases in one week’s time. The department’s report also noted there had been 4,474 recoveries, representing an increase of 453 individuals within the previous seven days.

There had been 46 deaths reported in the county as a result of COVID-19 as of Tuesday morning, one more than one week earlier, and representing seven deaths from the virus in three weeks.

The Rockwall County Office of Emergency Management reported there were 86 people in the county’s hospitals suffering from COVID-19 as of Tuesday, including 14 patients in the ICU.

The Texas Department of State Health Services indicated there had been 46.014 COVID-19 tests conducted in the county as of press time Tuesday.
