Active cases dropping

For the second week in a row, Rockwall County is reporting a decrease in active COVID-19 cases and statistics connected to the virus are still dropping across the surrounding region.

• The Texas Department of State Health Services reported that Rockwall County had 43 active COVID-19 cases, eight fewer than Nov. 8 and 130 less than two weeks earlier.

The county had reported 13,723 cumulative confirmed COVID-19 cases, an increase of 37 cases when compared to Nov. 8, with 4,050 probable cases, 24 more than one week prior.

The county had 222 reported deaths attributed to COVID-19, one more than one week earlier.

The statistics were reported on the afternoon of Monday, Nov. 15.

The county had 17,680 estimated recoveries of the virus, 68 more than a week earlier.

The hospitals in Trauma Service Area E, a 19-county region of North Texas, which includes Rockwall County, reported 776 patients were in hospital beds with COVID-19 as of Monday, a reduction of 23 cases in one week, which accounted for 29.24% of the 2,653 patients hospitalized due to the virus across Texas.

The hospitals in Trauma Service Area E reported that as of Monday, 4.97% of all hospitalized patients in the region were due to COVID-19.

As of Nov. 4, children 5-11 are included in the total number of people eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine and the eligible population denominator reported by the Texas Department of State Health Services of those fully vaccinated include all Texans 5 years of age and older.

As of Tuesday, the Texas Department of State Health Services reported that 57.88% of Rockwall County residents 5 and older had been fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
