Rockwall County residents had begun receiving vaccinations against COVID-19 to start 2021, as hundreds of new cases of the virus were reported.
The latest report from the Rockwall County Office of Emergency Management indicated there had been 5,224 confirmed cases of COVID-19 as of Monday evening, an increase of 567 cases in one week.
On the other hand, the department’s report also noted there had been 5,068 recoveries, representing an increase of 880 individuals within the previous seven days.
Vaccinations of the COVID-19 vaccines are being distributed at three offices in Rockwall County — Baylor Scott and White Lake Pointe, Sandknop Health Group and the Healthcare Associates of Irving LLP office in the county. As of Monday, 1,129 vaccinations had been provided in the county.
There had been 49 deaths reported in Rockwall County as a result of COVID-19 as of Monday, four more than one week earlier.
The Rockwall County Office of Emergency Management reported there were 126 people in the county’s hospitals suffering from COVID-19 as of Monday, including 14 patients in the ICU.
The COVID-19 restrictions which were put into place four weeks ago remain in effect, as Trauma Service Area E, a 19-county region of North Texas that includes Hunt and Rockwall counties, was reporting the number of COVID-19 hospitalized patients as a percentage of total hospital capacity was at 23.9 percent as of Sunday.
