A Rockwall church is scheduled to host free COVID-19 testing throughout the end of the year.

The Rockwall County Office of Emergency Management was reporting a total of 2,228 COVID-19 cases as of Tuesday morning, an increase of 247 cases since Nov. 3.

There were 198 active cases reported, an increase of 134 patients from what had been reported one week earlier.

Thirty-six people were reported with COVID-19 in Rockwall County hospitals as of Monday, including 11 patients reported in ICU.

A total of 33 deaths were reported as a result of COVID-19, five more within three weeks.

There were also 1,997 recoveries reported, 105 more during the previous week.

The Texas Department of State Health Services indicated there had been 24,632 COVID-19 tests conducted in the county as of press time Tuesday, 1,801 more in one week, resulting in an 8 percent positivity rate in the county.

The Rockwall and Royse school districts are each posting daily COVID-19 dashboards online. The Rockwall ISD report, as of Tuesday, indicated there were 45 student cases and 20 staff cases reported in the district, with 109 students instructed to stay at home, as well as 54 staff members.

The Royse City ISD report indicated there were four elementary school students and four elementary school staff members with COVID-19, with four elementary school students and five elementary school staff members reported cleared to return to campus.

There were four middle school students and one staff member reported with the virus Tuesday, with eight students and one staff member cleared to return.

Six high school students were reported with COVID-19 Tuesday morning, with 13 students and one staff member cleared to return.

One additional district staff member was reported with the virus Tuesday, and two staff members cleared to return.

The Rockwall County Office of Emergency Management has announced LakePointe Church, 701 E. Interstate 30 in Rockwall, will serve as a static testing site through December.

The testing is free. There are no requirements for the test and participants are asked to register at GoGetTested.com.

Testing is scheduled to be available seven days a week, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays and from 1-4 p.m. Sundays.

Results will be available in 48-96 hours and positive results will receive a medical consultation from a provider.
