Rockwall County continues to report deaths attributed to COVID-19, with hundreds more cases of the virus added during the past week.
On a positive note, the number of active COVID-19 cases declined for the third week in a row when compared to one week earlier and the total number of recovered cases also rose sharply.
The Texas Department of State Health Services reported that as of Tuesday morning Rockwall County had 11,147 cumulative confirmed COVID-19 cases, an increase of 241 cases when compared to one week earlier, with 3,056 probable cases, 81 more in one week.
The county had 169 reported deaths attributed to COVID-19, four more than one week earlier and an increase of 10 deaths in three weeks.

The county had 13,869 estimated recoveries of the virus, 335 more than a week earlier. There were 287 active cases of the virus reported in Rockwall County Tuesday morning, 63 fewer than on August 17.
The hospitals in Trauma Service Area E, a 19-county region of North Texas, which includes Rockwall County, reported 3,293 patients were in hospital beds with COVID-19 as of Monday, which accounted for 23.91% of the 13,869 patients hospitalized due to the virus across Texas.
The hospitals in Trauma Service Area E reported that as of Sunday, 20.96% of all hospitalized patients in the region were due to COVID-19.
