Rockwall County had more than 70 new cases of COVID-19, and more than 60 recoveries from the virus, during the past week.
The Rockwall County Office of Emergency Management was reporting a total of 1,621 COVID-19 cases as of Tuesday morning, an increase of 77 cases since Sept. 22. There were 63 active cases reported, representing an increase of 12 patients from what had been reported one week earlier. There were also 1,534 recoveries reported, 64 more during the week.
The Texas Department of State Health Services indicated there had been 16,877 COVID-19 tests conducted in the county as of press time Tuesday, resulting in a 9.6 percent positivity rate in the county.

The Rockwall and Royse school districts are each posting daily COVID-19 dashboards online. The Rockwall ISD report, as of Tuesday, indicated there were eight active student cases and three active staff cases in the district, with 18 students completing stay-at-home periods and 11 staff members completing stay-at-home periods.

The Royse City ISD report indicated there were one student and two staff members at the elementary school, three students at the middle school and one student at the high school who had been cleared to return to class.
Two students at the high school were reported to be active as of Tuesday morning.
