Back at work

Teachers in the Royse City School District returned to work on Monday, with the start of school scheduled Thursday, August 19.

The start of school in the Royse City ISD is only a few days away.

Teachers returned on Monday and the bells are scheduled to ring for the fall semester on the morning of Thursday. August 19.

Elementary schools begin at 7:30 a.m., with the tardy bell at 7:35 a.m. and with dismissal at 3:10 p.m.

Middle schools start the day at 8:25 a.m., with the tardy bell at 8:30 a.m. and dismissal at 4 p.m.

The high school begins at 8:15 a.m., with the tardy bell at 8:25 a.m. and dismissal at 3:50 p.m.

The start of the school year also means a return to active traffic zones and calls for the annual reminders about school bus safety.

Motorists are to avoid parking in fire lanes around local schools.

School zones mean reduced speed from the start of the zone to the end of the zone, rather than slowing down after you arrive and speeding up before you exit.

Children should be instructed to cross streets at crosswalks, especially if crossing guards are available.

Passing a stopped school bus is illegal and can land a motorists in jail if the bus driver reports them. When a bus is stopped, motorists on either side of the road must stop until the bus driver pulls in the “stop” sign and turns off the flashing lights.
