The Royse City Lady Bulldogs experienced the highs and lows of playoff competition all in the same week, capturing a bi-district title to begin the week but ending it with a loss in the area round.
The Lady Bulldogs shut out Dallas Molina 2-0 in last Tuesday’s bi-district game at Forney’s City Bank Field with both goals coming by Cierra Richardson.
On Friday, Royse City returned to the same field to face a Forney team full of good fortune – receiving a bye in the first round before receiving a home game for its area matchup.
The teams played to a scoreless tie for quite some time before Forney notched three second-half goals with one each from Mason Davis, Caylon McMillan and Kayleigh Phillips.
Forney advanced to the sectional round with a 3-0 win that ended the Lady Bulldogs’ season with a 12-6-1 record.
On the boys’ side, Hillcrest continued its stellar play Tuesday during a bi-district soccer playoff at Frankin Field, sending the Royse City Bulldogs home with a 3-0 loss in the opening round.
Alexis Zapata scored twice and Christian Martinez notched another goal for Hillcrest. The Bulldogs end the season in the bi-district round for the second consecutive year.
