The Royse City Lady Bulldogs’ volleyball team will be under new leadership as the team tries to bounce back from a disappointing 2013 campaign that included just five wins.

Amanda Marek takes over for Jami Dover, who struggled to a 5-18 record with the Lady Bulldogs last season. Marek spent the last two seasons at Greenville, where she compiled an 18-34 combined record, including a 1-3 mark against Royse City.

The Lady Bulldogs are just two years removed from their last playoff appearance in 2012.

The girls will begin two-a-day workouts Monday and host North Mesquite and Lakeview Centennial on Aug. 8 for a three-team scrimmage.

The regular season officially begins Aug. 12 with a tri-match in Forney against Pine Tree and North Forney.

The rest of the non-district schedule includes home dates against Caddo Mills and Crandall, road games at Frisco Liberty, North Lamar and Sulphur Springs, as well as tournaments at Princeton and Lewisville.

District play begins Sept. 12 as the Lady Bulldogs hit the road to face perennial power Rockwall-Heath in the new District 12-5A.

The rest of the district includes South Garland, West Mesquite, Forney, North Forney, Terrell and Mesquite Poteet.

The Lady Bulldogs’ first district home contest is Sept. 19 against West Mesquite and Senior Night is scheduled for Oct. 24 against Terrell.

The UIL volleyball playoffs begin with the bi-district round from Nov. 3-4.
