Girls basketball

The Lady RCHS Bulldogs (10-6) are now 2-1 in district play after losing last week’s matchup against the No. 12 state-ranked team.

Royse City hosted District 15-5A leader Wylie East (14-3, 3-0) on Tuesday before taking a break for the Christmas holiday, and lost the game 48-29. Maci Bookout led all scorers, and accounted for 21 of the Lady Bulldogs’ points.

The girls will return to the court after a Christmas break to participate in the Kaufman Holiday Tournament, which began today. District play will resume next Tuesday, Jan. 2, at North Forney (2-13, 0-2) at 7 p.m.

Boys basketball

The Bulldogs (11-4, 1-0) began their District 15-5A matchups with a win on the road last week.

Royse City played at Wylie East (1-13, 0-1) on Friday and won the game, 68-59, in overtime. The Bulldogs were down 32-23 at halftime, but came back in the second half to even the score at 53 by the end of the fourth quarter.

In overtime, the Bulldogs outscored Wylie East 15-6. Zion Leach led all scorers with 19 points. Quincy Onyema (17) and Donald Garrett (12) also scored in double digits for Royse City.

The Bulldogs will return to regular season games after taking a break for the holidays, and will host North Forney (4-7, 0-1) on Tuesday, Jan. 2, at 7 p.m.

Girls soccer

The Lady Bulldogs are gearing up for the start of the 2018 season, which officially begins on Jan. 9. Royse City will have two pre-season scrimmages — at home against Coppell on Friday at 2 p.m., and at Richardson next Tuesday, Jan. 2, at 1 p.m.

Boys soccer

The start of the 2018 season is right around the corner, and it begins with a scrimmage at Sulphur Springs, tomorrow. The varsity scrimmage will begin at 7 p.m. The regular season will officially begin next Thursday with a three-day tournament at Forney.
