Seventeen teams helped raise money for the Royse City Chamber of Commerce Friday at its annual golf tournament

The tourney was held at the AAKI International golf course in Royse City.

Awards for golfing the event included a barbecue dinner and numerous raffle prizes donated by area merchants.

Winning first place in the first flight was the team sponsored by Dallas Foundation and Drilling. Team members were Ronnie Smith, Scott Crowell, Kenny Tapp, and Terry Harrison.

Coming in second place was an unsponsored team headed by Don Bumpas. FEC Electric took third.

In the second flight, Baltic Pools took first place. Team members included Patrick Fortier, Gary Williams, John Emerson, and Shane Harmon. Coming in second was Gilbert Construction, followed in third by Huffines Communities.

A special award was given out for the most unlikely team.” Rockwall County Commissioner David Magness who played on the Texas Leadership Bank, which will open soon in Royse City.

When asked what the award signified Magness responded, “We were the most unlikely to lose but we did.”

“This year’s golf tournament was a great success,” said Shayna Levine, the Royse City Chamber of Commerce’s executive director.

“All of our expectations were met in terms of participants and sponsorship, but what I really get a kick out of is the number of people that show up to volunteer on the day of the event.

“This event is not only fun for the participants, the volunteers look forward to it every year. Special thanks to all of our sponsors, they really make this event possible,” Levine said.
