The Royse City Lions Club will be looking to clean up the town Saturday, and asks for volunteer support from local residents as the Lions host the Don’t Mess with Texas “Trash-Off” at 8 a.m.
The Lions Club will meet in the back parking lot of Jimmy’s Donuts, located in downtown Royse City, before heading off to stray garbage throughout the town.
However, the organization is urging volunteers from all walks of life to help with the effort.
The Lions Club will provide safety vests and trash bags to all who volunteer, but those willing to participate are asked to bring their own gloves, if needed. Rubber boots or water-proof shoes are also recommended.
The Don’t Mess with Texas Trash-Off is the largest one-day cleanup event in the state and serves as Texas’ signature event for the Great American Cleanup, the nation’s largest community improvement program.
The event is part of TxDOT’s litter prevention program, which includes Don’t Mess with Texas, Adopt-a-Highway and a grassroots partnership with Keep Texas Beautiful.
For more information, or to RSVP, call Kimberley Wheeler at 972-658-9504. Volunteers are asked to RSVP by Friday.
