FATE — Plans are being made for a city park to be built north of downtown on either side of Texas 66.

The Fate City Council adopted a parks and trails plan at the special meeting Feb. 6. Council members discussed what they wanted to be in the park, which will include baseball and soccer fields, said City Manager Gerry Boren.

The proposed site, which is approximately 50 acres, was being surveyed Wednesday, Boren said.

The council also amended the fee assessment ordinance to allow school districts to pay less for building permit and inspection fees.

“The goal is to get school districts to pay for how much it costs for the construction of a school at cost,” Boren said.

The council also approved a resolution to amend the 2005-2006 budget due to the hiring of two new employees. The city recently hired Mike Meek as public works assistant and Mike Krider as water and sewer superintendent.

The council also met in a workshop and discussed land use for the Central Business District. The council did not take any action on the issue.
