The Royse City Lions Club and Mayor Jerrell Baley will hold a summit meeting of all the city’s civic, service and religious groups this Friday at the First United Methodist Church Wesley Hall.
“We’re going to let each group have about two minutes to describe what they do in the community, and then we’ll open up the floor and let anyone who knows of a need bring it up, and then we’ll discuss how we can meet that need,” Lions Club Treasurer Pat Russell said.
Russell said the meeting would be more of a brainstorming session to find out more about the community service groups within Royse City.
She added that the Lions Club will make a directory of each group during the meeting, so that if people come to the Lions with a need, they can direct them to the right person or group to meet that need.
“We want to know what the needs of the city are, who’s best suited to meet them and if we’re overlooking someone in the county who really needs our help,” Russell said.
Those groups invited to the meeting are asked to bring a group brochure and contact information to share with attendees.
Sandwiches, chips and dip, and cookies will be provided during the meeting, which begins at 6 p.m.
