The new facility was included under the two propositions in the $230 million bond referendum the Royse City ISD presented on the May election ballot to address current and future student growth in the district. Both of the propositions passed by wide margins.

A large crowd came out on the afternoon of Nov. 1 for a groundbreaking ceremony for the new Ruth Cherry Elementary School, 1450 Verandah Road in Royse City.
