Rockwall fielded a 41.26 percent voter turnout in last week’s general election. 83.63 percent of the 18,948 votes cast were straight party Republican votes.
Ralph Hall was the big winner locally, defeating Democrat VaLinda Hathcox with a vote count of 14,949 to Hathcox’s 2,893. That represented an 80.22 percent vote total among Rockwall County voters in the U.S. House, District 4 race.
Rockwall voters picked incumbent Rick Perry over Bill White by a total of 13,548 to 4,703, representing 72.04 percent of votes cast.
Rockwall County offices were run unopposed, with the winning candidates having been already chosen as a result of the primary election.
Jerry Hogan will assume the office of County Judge on Jan. 1. Also elected locally were: Kenda Culpepper, District Attorney; Kay McDaniel, District Clerk; Shelli Miller, County Clerk; David Peek, County Treasurer; Lorie Grinnan, County Commissioner Pct. 2; David Magness, County Commissioner Pct. 4; and Jack James and Nancy Beaty, JP pcts. 1,4 and 2,3.
