Royse City Police responded to a call involving a man who had been shot by a woman after an altercation during the early hours of Friday.
The man, who survived the shooting, was arrested for assault/family violence, and is currently at the Rockwall County Sheriff’s Office detention facility. He was treated at the Baylor Dallas Hospital for “non-life-threatening” injuries.
According to a department press release, officers located the man and the woman at the scene shortly after midnight, at the 700 block of Mackenzi Drive.
In their statement, the department said that it had conducted a “preliminary investigation” and believes that an argument between the man and the woman escalated into a physical altercation.
The police department reports that the woman, then, went into the garage and got a pistol from her car before shooting the man.
The Rockwall County’s Sheriff’s Office and the Royse City Police Department did not immediately respond to the Herald-Banner’s requests for comment.
