Area residents had the opportunity to enter for Soulman’s Bar-B-Que “Thanksgiveaway” program where winners receive an entire Thanksgiving meal prepared by the restaurant.
Spokeswoman for the restaurant Baylea Wood said the Thanksgiving meal giveaway is to “lend a helping hand” to families in the area who have “endured hardship.”
“Part of our culture at Soulman’s is about giving back to the communities that our restaurants serve,” Wood said. “We wanted to do something that would get our staff excited to be a part of helping those that have fallen upon hard times during the holidays.”
This is the fourth year the restaurant has had a “Thanksgiveaway.” With locations throughout Hunt, Rockwall and other North Texas counties, winners are selected at each location after being nominated by others or There have been more than 750 submissions for this year’s giveaway.
“We’re so grateful for the opportunity to share a soulful holiday meal with 18 families across North Texas,” CEO Brett Randle said in a statement.
The 18 families selected, once notified, will be able to pick up their Thanksgiving family meal at the Soulman’s location near them on the week of Thanksgiving. The family meal provided consists of a turkey and mashed potatoes, green beans, dressing and cranberry sauce.
“We actually have the meals available for pick-up at each location,” Wood said. “We try to be as flexible as possible with our recipients and each of their unique situations.”
