A trial which had been scheduled this week for a Royse City woman, indicted in connection with the 2016 shooting death of her husband, a University Park Fire Department captain, has been postponed.
It will be another two months before a new trial date is set for Chacey Tyler Poynter.
Jury selection was scheduled Monday for Poynter, the wife of the late Robert L. Poynter III.
But 354th District Court Judge Keli Aiken pulled it from the docket Friday, then scheduled a review hearing for Aug. 13, at which time a new trial setting may be announced.
Poynter’s trial had previously been reset from December 2017.
Trial is set July 9 for Michael Glen Garza of Quinlan.
Prosecutors have said Chacey Poynter and Garza acted together to kill Robert Poynter on the night of Sept. 9, 2016 by shooting him with a firearm.
Both Poynter and Garza have pleaded not guilty.
Garza and Chacey Poynter remain in custody at the Hunt County Detention Center, each on murder charges. Garza is being held in lieu of $1 million bond while Poynter is being held in the jail in lieu of $500,000 bond.
