With three freshmen and a sophomore among its top seven runners, the Royse City lady Bulldogs finished a respectable 16th at the UIL Division II cross country championships Nov. 6 at Vandergriff Park.
Sophomore Jada Muhammad (66th place overall in a time of 13:32.94) was the fastest Lady Bulldog, followed by freshman Cherokee Sauer (82nd, 13:56.07), junior Taylor Neely (83rd, 13:58.02), freshman Jennifer Dyer (89th, 14:01.96), senior Alicia Pille (116th, 14:39.52), junior Sydney Strahm (132 15:25.65) and freshman Adriana Berreles (134th, 15:30.02).
Freshman Natalie Rathjen from overall team champion Highland Park was the top individual, finishing first in a time of 11:05.01 on the two-mile course. Frisco took second while Bastrop wound up third in the team scoring. 179 runners from 23 teams competed in the race.
On the boys’ side, junior Kennith Richardson was the only boy participating for Royse City, coming home in 74th place in a field of 174 runners.
