Royse City High School soccer clubs begin district play this week, beginning with last night’s contests against South Garland and continuing Friday against perennial power Mesquite Poteet.

The Lady Bulldogs prepared for league competition with a pair of shutout wins last week — 5-0 over North Garland on Jan. 20 and 2-0 versus Mount Pleasant last Friday.

In the win over Class 6A North Garland, Kristyn Daniels fired in two goals while Jennyfer Caracheo, Riley Sutton and Hannah Webb each notched a goal. Daniels and Sutton scored goals during the win over Mount Pleasant.

Meanwhile, the Bulldogs faced Mesquite on the road last Friday for their final non-district contest, dropping a 3-1 decision against the 6A Skeeters. No stats were reported.

Results from Tuesday’s contests against South Garland were not available at press time, and game times for Friday’s matchups with Poteet are 5:30 p.m. for junior varsity and approximately 7:15 p.m. for varsity. The Lady Bulldogs will host Poteet while the boys will travel to Mesquite Memorial Stadium to take on the Pirates.

District play continues next week with Tuesday’s pairing against Rockwall-Heath and a Feb. 6 meeting with Terrell.
