The University Interscholastic League's decision to group Class 5A teams into Division I (largest) and Division II (smallest) for football will result in big changes for Royse City High School in the 2018-19 and 2019-20 academic years.

In football realignment announced Thursday morning, the Bulldogs will be joined in Division II District 8-5A by Corsicana, Ennis, Forney, Greenville, Kaufman, North Forney, Sulphur Springs and Terrell.

Only the two Forney ISD schools are part of the current District 15-5A, which includes Royse City.

In basketball, volleyball and most other team sports, RCHS will play in a six-team district with Greenville, Lindale, Mount Pleasant, Sulphur Springs and Texas High of Texarkana.

RCHS also announced that its two nondistrict football opponents in the next two seasons will be Frisco Centennial and Garland.
