The Royse City soccer squads got their share of kicks last weekend as each began their respective season at area tournaments.

The Bulldogs opened the Forney Jackrabbit Kickoff with three consecutive losses, but ended the event with a pair of wins to finish 2-3-0 at the three-day tournament.

Royse City lost a 1-0 match to host Forney, a 3-1 decision to Longview and a 5-0 shutout against Mesquite Horn. The Bulldogs were able to bounce back with a 3-2 win over West Mesquite and a 3-0 blanking of Lindale.

In the win over West Mesquite, Blain Hickman and Ulisses Lopez scored goals in regulation before the Bulldogs won the match in a shootout. No stats were reported for the other contests.

The Lady Bulldogs finished 1-1-1 at the Prosper Invitational last weekend, notching a 5-0 win over El Paso Riverside, a tie against Prestonwood Christian and a 2-0 loss to host Prosper.

Royse City scored four first half goals in the lopsided win over EP Riverside. No stats were available for any contests.

The Lady Bulldogs were home Tuesday night to open their home schedule against Crandall and will host Sulphur Springs on Friday with the junior varsity scheduled to begin at around 5:30 p.m.

The Bulldogs played at Princeton on Tuesday night and will hit the road to face Greenville on Friday at approximately 7:15 p.m, following the JV boys match.
