COPPELL — The Royse City Lady Bulldogs went 4-1 in the Coppell Classic basketball tournament to finish second to Coppell.
They beat Peaster (52-44), El Paso Andress (49-32), Prosper (49-44) and Frisco Wakeland (54-34) and lost 48-33 to Coppell, which is now 9-0 for the season. The Lady Bulldogs are 9-4.
Shelby Aldridge led the Lady Bulldogs in the tournament, averaging 10.2 points per game to go with an average of 3.2 rebounds.
Kayla Kimbrough averaged 10.0 points, 2.5 assists and 1.4 steals.
Nicole Weaver averaged 7.4 points and 4.6 rebounds.
Kayla Sargent and Alexia Lohman both averaged 5.0 points per game and Sargent led the rebounders at 7.4.
Kimbrough paced the Lady Bulldogs against Coppell with 13 points and Aldridge scored 12.
Weaver and Lohman both scored 11 to lead Royse City against Wakeland and Destiny Alexander scored 9 points to go with eight rebounds.
Royse City’s top scorers against Prosper were Kimbrough (13), Aldridge (12) and Weaver (10). Sargent pulled down six rebounds.
Scoring leaders for Royse City in the win over El Paso Andress were Trinidi King (8), Aldridge (7), Kimbrough (7), Sargent (6), Weaver (6) and Lohman (6). Lohman pulled down nine rebounds and Sargent pulled down six.
Sargent doubled for Royse City against Peaster with 13 points and 18 rebounds. Next in scoring were Aldridge (12), Kimbrough (9), Weaver (9) and King (8).
The Lady Bulldogs have gone 8-2 in tournament play this season. They also went 4-1 in the Lady Spartan Classic in Burleson to win the silver bracket.
