This week’s Royse City sports roundup:
Last week saw the Bulldogs, 3-1 in District 15-5A games, open with a weather-delayed 4-1 home loss to Wylie East and close with a 1-0 win over North Forney. RCHS trailed 3-0 after only seven minutes in the match vs. Wylie East and received a decisive goal from Payton Petroff in the win over North Forney.
The boys are at home vs. Highland Park on Friday night.
The RCHS girls also stood at 3-1 in the district after a win over Wylie East and a 4-2 loss to North Forney last week.
On Friday night, the Lady Bulldogs play at Highland Park, one of the top-ranked teams in the state and Dallas/Fort Worth metro area. The Scots won their first four district games by an aggregate score of 26-2.
The Lady Bulldogs (3-11, 13-15) finished their season at home last Tuesday with a 49-44 loss to Lucas Lovejoy. Kyla McMinn led RCHS with 14 points.
Track & field
The outdoor season opens Thursday, weather permitting, with a three-way practice meet at RCHS. Community and North Forney will also participate.
The season was scheduled to open Tuesday night with a game at Lakeview Centennial. This weekend, the Lady Bulldogs are entered in the three-day CFB Tournament of Champions in Carrollton that begins Thursday.
The season opens next Monday, Feb. 19, at Garland. A three-day tournament at RCHS will begin Feb. 22.
