The District 15-5A meet will be Thursday (preliminaries) and Saturday (finals) at Lucas Lovejoy.

SOFTBALL

The Lady Bulldogs (5-3, 13-5-1) had a break-even week, dropping a 5-4 decision at Lovejoy on Monday and following with a 22-0 win over winless West Mesquite on Thursday.

The loss at Lovejoy came when Royse City was touched for a run in the home sixth after tying the score with a three-run rally in the top of the inning.

Three RCHS pitchers combined on a three-inning no-hitter vs. West Mesquite, a team Royse City had beaten at home by 21-1.  The big bats last week belonged to Brooke Johnson and Hadlee Patrick, each of whom had two hits and four RBI.

The ‘Dogs face two tough assignments this week as district leader Forney visited Royse City on Tuesday followed by a road game at Wylie East on Friday.

BASEBALL

Two losses to Wylie East left the Bulldogs with a 3-3 record in District 15-5A and a 15-10 overall mark.

RCHS’ home game, played last Monday, was a pitchers’ battle with Bulldog Drayton Harris going all seven innings, allowing only two hits and striking out six, but still coming out second-best in a 3-1 defeat.

The game at Wylie East wasn’t close, as RCHS trailed 10-1 after two innings and saw the game called after four and one-half with the Raiders leading 14-4.

North Forney is this week’s opponent. The game at RCHS is Friday at 7:30.
