District awards were released and the following athletes were honored for their accomplishments:

First Team — Cameron Worthy

Second Team — Lexus Greshaw and Abby Hellmuth

Honorable Mention — Taylor Broome, Morgan Kobe

Academic All-District — Averi McCoy, Savanna Romney, Amel Rodriguez and Cameron Worthy 

Girls basketball

The Lady Bulldogs won their first regular season non-district matchup before losing the second game last week.

The varsity girls team hosted Seagoville last Tuesday and won the matchup 47-33. Royse City outscored the Lady Dragons 30-13 in the first two quarters, and held the lead through the entire game. Maci Bookout led the team with 13 points, 6 assists and 5 steals. Michaela Travers had 11 points, 8 rebounds and 7 steals.

On Saturday, the Lady Bulldogs played on the road at Longview lost the game by a score of 82-61. Bookout led all scorers with a total of 27 points.

Royse City will play in a tournament in Corsicana beginning on Thursday, and will resume regular season play on Monday at non-district opponent Greenville, and varsity will tip-off at 8 p.m.

Boys basketball 

The Bulldogs will travel to Lindale on Friday for the team’s first regular season non-district matchup, and the varsity game will begin at 7 p.m., after the end of the junior varsity game. 

Next week, the boys varsity team will play in a tournament at Rains beginning on Monday.
