Two people died after a multi-vehicle accident Sunday night, including a Weatherford man and a Godley High School student.
About 9:30 p.m. Sunday multiple agencies responded to a reported vehicle fire and entrapment in the 11300 block of Texas Highway 171 near Cresson.
Godley Police Chief Jason Jordan said a man driving a blue GMC pickup, later identified by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner's Office as Ricky Cook, of Weatherford, crossed the center line into oncoming traffic, and struck a silver Dodge Ram head-on. The driver of the Dodge was identified by the ME's office as Zane Gregg, 17, of Godley.
“The driver of the blue truck that caused the accident did have alcohol in the truck and he emitted alcohol from his person,” Jordan said.
Possible toxicology reports are pending, according to police.
Both men were pronounced dead at the scene. Jordan said the crash remains under investigation.
Godley police and fire departments, as well as the Cresson Volunteer Fire Department, Johnson County Sheriff’s Office, Texas Department of Public Safety and Texas Department of Transportation responded to the scene.
